After a great deal of time, the President of Malawi, Dr. Bingu Wa Mutharika has decided that the university of Malawi, Chancellor college should be reopened and has ordered the reinstatement of the four fired lecturers with immediate effect.

The call comes amidst the depression of the university students after eight whole months of not knowing their fate. The development has been welcomed by both the ordinary citizens and the university of Malawi.
Chancellor college students have expressed their joy at the news and some have expressed that they feel a good breeze towards their battle for academic freedom. The president still sticks to his words of assurance of academic freedom
